Stax
50th Anniversary Celebration

Concord Music Group Inc/Stax

Well, if there is a better way to
while away 3 hours around music,
I'd have to think hard as to what it
would be.

This 50th anny box set from the
legendary Stax Records-they of
the famous Memphis sound-is a
treasure.

Budget priced at around $20, it
collects 50 tracks from the
previously released rather pricey
4 CD box set, The Stax Story, and
includes an excellent multi-page
booklet with an essay by Rob
Bowman, who also served as
co-producer of this new set.

And included here are fine
remastered versions of all the
hits-and not so-of the Stax stable,
of which Isaac Hayes was the most
successful.

If the last time you heard Soul
Finger by the Bar-Kays was on a
lousy AM oldies station, then
make sure you check out what
they have done with such tracks
on the Stax 50th Anniversary
Celebration.

Plus, how could one resist a cool
box that has the Stax snapping
finger logo, which actually snaps!

Cool.
