Original Motion Picture

"The killing of Bobby Kennedy was
the death of decency and hope."
Emilio Estevez
As reviewed on Boomer Media
Review, Emilio Estevez's Bobby
feature film is probably best
described as a noble swing, and
a miss.
But this accompanying
soundtrack, from the the 1968
jukebox is at least a stand-up
double, if not more.
11 pop and soul gems from the
period, a new song by Aretha
Franklin with the Harlem Boys
Choir, 2 tone poems by mark
Isham, and two Bobby Kennedy
speech excerpts that still amaze.
And, if the the oldies here have
ever sounded better, then I'm not
aware of it.
Estevez is listed as a
co-producer of this soundtrack,
and obviously, care has been
taken in the final mastering of the
songs, and they sound, great.
The closing track on this disc, a 5
minute excerpt from a speech
Kennedy made shortly after
Martin Luther King's murder is
not only one of the great political
speeches, ever, but also sadly
prophetic, as Kennedy notes that
the violence seems to go on, and
on, and on.
And, it did.
