LIVERPOOL 8
Ringo Starr
Capitol

Going on 38 years since his
meal ticket got punched for the
last time, Ringo Starr is still out
there touring and making music.

He may still be one of the
greatest drummers in rock, but
as was the case since at least
1964, he ain't no Phil Collins
when it comes to the vocals.

Yet Starr still retains a musical
charm that makes each album at
least worth checking out.

And Liverpool 8 is no exception.

With much helping hand from
ex-Eurthymics maestro Dave
Stewart-who is billed here David
as A. Stewart -the 12 tunes on
this CD are pleasant to listen, to
if not to write home about.

This is far from Ringo, or even
Goodnight Vienna, but is also
far from some of the sop that
Starr put out in the late 70s and
early 80s, whilst suffering from
excessive drink.

Let's face it, the days of Ringo
topping the charts are long
gone, but at least he's still
kickin'.
