For a Pink Floyd freak, this box set is
about as good as it gets.
14 original albums from The Piper At
The Gates of Dawn to The Division
Bell and a total of 16 CDs makes this
set near an embarrassment of riches.
All of the original albums are
painstakingly recreated here in
miniature form, and all contain their
original inserts, posters and stickers
where applicable.
Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You
Were Here are insert laden here, as
were the originally released LPs.
The CDs themselves are also
duplicated with their original Harvest
label and colours.
The box holding all the miniature LPs
sits upright, with the sleeves placed
spine up, and is topped with a lid.
Then an outer shell-pictured at top
page left-slides unto the box,
securing the whole package.
Besides all the LP inserts, the box
comes with exclusive coasters, and a
fold-out poster that displays the
entire 14 album collection.
Yet as superb as the packaging is,
the real payoff is the excellent
Japanese mastering of the CDs from
the original masters.
If there are Pink Floyd CDs out there
that sound better than these do, I'd
like to hear them.
Even if the price seems a little
prohibitive to the casual fan, try and
go to your record shop and buy the
14 Japanese issue CDs, and then
compare the price of the box to
cherry picking.
No contest.
