OZZY OSBOURNE
Black Rain
Sony/BMG
So, what has it been, close to 5
years since the Ozzman
cometh?
During that time, the venerable
Ozzy just about got himself
dispatched in an ATV accident,
gave up his "reality" TV show,
and also gave up showing up at
Ozzfest, the heavy metal
summer bash he has
championed for 10 years or so.
Yet now he is back with a new
10 track CD with main man Zakk
Wylde still wielding his major
axe.
And Ozz also seems to care
again, belting out some
"message" songs, among them
Black Rain, an anti-war song,
with typical Ozzy doom.
To say that after 25+ solo years
of loud metal, Ozzy might repeat
himself, or even enter parody
might be to state the obvious.
Yet Black Rain-while no Crazy
Train-is still pretty good, as are 3
or 4 other tunes on the LP,
especially those at which Wylde
is given a free fret hand.
And the cover alone is a worth a
look, and hear-see.
Just don't go expecting Mr.
Crowley.
