Live in Concert
BGO
MCA
You think that newly sober
classic rock guitar hero Joe
Walsh can play amazingly with
the Eagles?
Well, yes, you would be right,
yet to really hear amazing from
Joe, you have to go back to the
early 70s, and especially
Walsh's band, the James Gang,
live at Carnegie Hall.
Once again, this is one of those
releases that sort of hides under
the radar, because it has been
available only sporadically on
CD.
Presently, it can be hand from
the UK's beat Goes On records,
and last year MCA made the
iconic Live in Concert for sale
stateside, with a special red
bordered cover, with the
notation, "Featuring Joe Walsh."
In any event, or edition, this
release is the real deal, if you get
off on real loud-that's REAL
loud-power chord rock,
Hammond organ, and basic
drums and bass.
Don't know if Walsh was wasted
for this concert, but whatever he
was, was fabulous.
Unreal versions of Tend My
Garden, Stop, and Walk Away
blow the studio versions all to
hell.
If-and that's if-there is a
downside, is that the sound is a
bit dodgy, and this single CD
does not represent the band's
entire set.
So, this is one that screams out
for the "deluxe" treatment, and a
fresh remaster.
